Business and Fitness Philosophy:
I feel very strongly about the responsibility of a club not only to encourage people to join, but also to provide strong support and education in order to effect true improvement in health and fitness. My approach is holistic, believing that a broad and diverse program needs to be developed and implemented to both gain AND sustain health and quality of life improvements.
I have taken my own "journey" to fitness.
Like many others, I was "burdened" with what appeared to be a "low metabolism". Combine this with hypoglycemia, bronchial asthma, and lack of education regarding proper nutritional principles and need for physical activity, it is no wonder that by the age of 34 I was a massive 275 pounds… with a body-fat ratio of over 40%. Obese to the MAX! I know about self-loathing, hopelessness and desperation.
Somehow, in spite of those awful feelings, I mustered sufficient motivation to improve, and get fit.
As is often the case, I did almost EVERYTHING wrong. Starvation diets, excessive and compulsive "cardio" exercises, fad diets, etc. Finally, after much trial and error and failure, I found the magic formula… a sensible combination of balanced nutrition (without deprivation), a moderate program of aerobic exercise, AND resistance training. I am convinced that the incorporation of strength training was, and is, the core of success.
I lost 100 pounds. And even MORE important, KEPT it off. For the past 17 years have maintained a very healthy weight and low body-fat, whilst continuously improving my strength, endurance, and overall health and fitness.
My personal experiences have enhanced my ability to empathize and assist others seeking self-improvement. My definition of "commitment":
My PERSONAL Story

A personal and immutable decision to proceed in a chosen direction regardless of obstacles, disappointments, discouragements, doubts and diversions. This decision transcends all feelings, and exists absolutely without reconsideration.
