TITLE: "HGH - A Fountain of Youth?"
Dear David and Trish:
I know you guys receive all kinds of questions from people who read an article or see a report on TV. Well, here’s another one!
I was flipping through stations (I have 122 channels, so it’s almost a full-time job!), and I stopped at an apparent documentary explaining the vital importance of "H.G.H.". From what was presented, it sounded like this recent discovery could be the "Fountain of Youth"! Hey, I don’t want to miss out on this!!! What’s the deal?

Dear Excited,
Well, believe it or not, you DO have reason to be excited! hGH (Human Growth Hormone) therapy has proved to be very effective in many areas. Though not a true "fountain of youth", many clinical tests have shown dramatic improvements as in these areas: Hey, even Dairy Queen ice cream doesn’t do all of that (though it probably tastes better)! Now that we’ve really got your attention, let’s review some history, some biology, and practical ways that these discoveries can be part of your fitness program. History of hGH First, please remember that hGH is a NATURAL substance that is a vital element in the endocrine/hormonal system. What made it special, and worth focusing on was that the level of hGH decreased consistently with age. So it was suspected that if the hormone was restored, or somehow replaced, maybe some of the aging processes could be slowed down. Human growth hormone was first isolated in the 1920's. It was used clinically to help children whose growth was stunted, usually due to pituitary deficiency. It worked! They began to grow more normally. In 1986 Eli Lily started producing and marketing a synthetic hGH product called "Humatrope". In 1990, Dr. Daniel Rudman published in the New England Journal of Medicine his human growth hormone research studies on the effects of longevity and life extension with hGH. The human growth hormone research results were startling. Working with volunteer's aged 61 to 81 at the Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Daniel Rudman used synthetically manufactured hGH to replicate what is created naturally in the body's own pituitary gland. It appeared that the aging process itself was arrested, and sometimes even reversed! In August 1996 the FDA approved hGH longevity and life extension therapy for older aging people with low IGF-1 levels with a doctors prescription. The FDA approved human growth hormone replacement therapy for adults with somatropin (human growth hormone deficiency syndrome) after reviewing clinical data submitted to it by the Eli Lilly Company. Their clinical trials proved that human growth hormone replacement therapy resulted in an increase of lean muscle mass, a decrease in body fat, an increase in exercise capacity and an increase in quality of life among adults with growth hormone deficiency. This was a major turning point. Risks and Possible Side Effect Now the BAD news… Like many new discoveries, it turned out that there are many potential risks associated with direct hGH injections. Some of them are: Additionally, the cost of injectible hGH is very high… often over $2,000 a month! And the shots need to be taken at least once if not twice a day. In spite of this, there are a plethora of clinics through this country, and then world, that specialize in assessing patients and providing the prescriptions and program for direct hGH replacement therapy. An Alternative Scientists, and many companies throughout the world, have been working on finding a way to increase hGH WITHOUT the high cost and possible risks. They discovered that the key was to get the body to produce more hGH on it’s own. These "promoters" of internal chemical production are generally called "precursors". The one that you will find the most information in is secretagogue. Secretagogue stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete more of its own hormone. As a result, many have gotten the benefits without the direct risks associated with hormone replacement. Is high in Your Future? Over 100 million Americans are currently suffering the effects of degenerative diseases directly resulting from the aging process. This accounts for 90% of all diseases in America today. By solving the problems associated with aging, we can eliminate over 50% of all disease overnight! HGH may be effective in preventing or eliminating many common degenerative diseases and conditions resulting from aging. Both Trish and I feel that hGH therapy has a tremendous potential. However, like any medical treatment, there are downsides and precautions. If used wisely and under a medical practitioner’s care, you can look forward to increased physical and mental health and well-being. We look forward to watching its future. We recommend that our readers do the same.
